Clive Douglas

Clive was born in Auckland and came to Melbourne in 1975 to study Interior Design and Architecture at RMIT. He ran his own architecture practice on the Mornington Peninsula for thirty years, and since 2020 has painted full time.

He builds each landscape from thin, translucent layers of oil to deepen the colour and the light. What he is after is a sense of place, more than a record of a view.

  • Six first prizes at Victorian art shows, 1985 to 1989
  • Studied oil painting under Maxwell Wilks at the Victorian Artists Society
  • Exhibited at Brunswick Street Gallery, Lander-Sea, Vida Gallery and Lon Resort
