Oil paintings of Australia

A sense of place.

Clive Douglas paints the places he has travelled, from the surf at Gunnamatta to the red ranges of the Northern Territory. Choose a place to see what he painted there.

The artist

From buildings to landscapes.

Clive Douglas was born in Auckland and came to Melbourne in 1975 to study Interior Design and Architecture at RMIT. He practised as an architect on the Mornington Peninsula for thirty years before turning to painting full time in 2020.

He builds each landscape from translucent layers of oil to deepen the colour and the light, and he is after a sense of place, more than a record of a view.
